Man United are set to begin talks over striker Rasmus Hojlund of Atalanta for around £65m

Manchester United are slated to engage in discussions with Atalanta over striker Rasmus Hojlund this week while paperwork is still being exchanged on Monday pertaining to mutually beneficial agreements for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana.

Onana’s fee is ow expected to be closer to £41m all in, which gives United a bit more leeway in their budget to leverage on the deal for Hojlund as the Italians have unwaveringly rebuffed offers of players in the deal so far as they have appraised the Dane at £86m in the current market where young center forwards are priced at a premium.

Realistically an offer around £65million could be sufficient despite being still high for a 20-year-old striker who scored just ten goals for Atalanta last season, according to Mail Sport‘s Simon Jones in Monday’s Transfer Confidential.

From the look of things, United could have the edge as Hojlund – who is represented by SEG, the same agents as Erik ten Hag – has made it clear he wants to join the Old Trafford club.

The Dane’s arrival would coincide with 25-year-old Marcus Rashford agreeing a new five year contract, which would then open up opportunities for United to consider offers for Anthony Martial besides sending Mason Greenwood out on loan.

United are also expecting offers for Fred, Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay which will subsequently open the door to usher in Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat for around £25m.
