Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal club has upped the ante and made a magnanimous offer of €400 million per season to Lionel Messi to join the Saudi state-run club, as the Argentine is rumored to leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season when his contract runs out.
Speculations are swirling a-plenty regarding the celebrated Albiceleste captain’s future which may finally be coming to an end at the Parc des Princes club as the ace Argentine footballer reportedly has been made an offer unheard of before in the history of football.
Al Hilal’s offer of €400 million per season to Messi is double the amount Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo is being paid by Al Hilal’s rival Al Nassr – €200 million.
However at this juncture it is still too early and premature to know what Messi’s final decision will be yet after his stint with the French club Paris Saint-Germain has lapsed. Reportedly, Messi is stronglhy predisposed towards remaining in Europe, which makes it highly unlikely for Al Hilal to land him.
As it stands, Barcelona and PSG both are most eager to have the football legend leading their teams. Barcelona are yet to make any concrete offer to him while PSG have yet to receive a definite response from the Argentine wizard and his camp.
Messi joined the ranks of Paris Saint-Germain on a two-year deal – with an option for an extra year if both parties are in mutual agreement – at the start of the 2021-22 season after a less-than-harmonious departure from the club after having spent 17 years at Camp Nou.
As for the Parisian club, relations between Messi and the Qatari-backed PSG seem to have undergone gradual deterioration to the point that the Argentine superstar, whose dream of winning the World Cup was realised in Qatar in December, was jeered at by hostile, clueless PSG fans following a Ligue 1 home defeat against Lyon on Sunday.
