Aguero claims Todd Boehly’s £88m Mykhailo Mudryk transfer has changed Chelsea

Former Manchester City talisman Sergio Aguero has given his view that the move for Mykhailo Mudryk to join Chelsea can only bode well for Todd Boehly’s Blues, despite news of the transfer fee having been criticised in some quarters.

Sergio Aguero believes Mudryk’s £88million signing could be a game-changer for Chelsea, with the potential to effectively transform the Blues’ season after the player was pinched from London rivals Arsenal. The transfer was a sudden, unexpected done deal that had seemed to favor the Gunners as favourites for the player’s signature all the while.

Aguero feels that with Chelsea swamped by struggles in recent months and lying 10th in the Premier League table, the hope now is that the signing can spark Graham Potter’s side to a resurgence and return to league action rejuvenated, starting against Fulham on Friday night at Stamford Bridge. The legendary Premier League goal-scorer believes the transfer could be catalytic to the much-needed transformation at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to Stake.com, Aguero was complimentary of the business conducted by Boehly, saying: “The major clubs have made their moves already, and there’s not much time left. Maybe there’s a last minute surprise, it’s impossible to tell.

“The market did have a lot of movement and teams had really important additions. Mudryk going to Chelsea comes to mind. It really lifted up their spirits and it looks like a big win for their team.”

Mudryk’s debut appearance for the Blues against Liverpool was in the 0-0 draw earlier this month, and hopefully the close to two-week break following that match will be sufficient time for Potter and his squad to regroup as they prepare to redouble their efforts in their pursuit of continental qualification th is season.

The Ukrainian star from Shakhtar Donetsk cost Chelsea an initial £62m, with the total fee said to reach £88m with add-ons.
