Anthony Elanga nominated for the 2022 Golden Boy Award

Manchester United’s Anthony Elanga is among the 40 players nominated for the Golden Boy award.

Run by Italian outlet Tuttosport, a plethora of journalists votes across the year for the best under-21 player among Europe’s top-flight leagues, beginning initially with a 100-player list in the summer with two rounds of voting whittling it down to 40.

Among the brightest prospects to make it beyond the initial voting, Elanga joins 39 other highly-rated youngsters on the esteemed list. The 20-year-old youngster had a bit of a break during Ralf Rangnick’s interim period last season which culminated in his memorable goal away to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

New gaffer Erik ten Hag has also inclined towards showing his faith in him this season with the Sweden international responding by delivering some key performances for the Reds, including an outstanding display in their 2-1 win over Liverpool last month.

The winger is joined by prestigious company on the list, too, with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, and Jamal Musiala also among the nominees.

The final 20 players for the last round of voting is set to be announced next month, and United supporters will no doubt be eagerly waiting to see if Elanga makes the shortlist.
