Qatari royal family announce Messi to PSG

It would appear that Khalifah Bin Hamad Al-Thani, a relative of PSG patron Nasser Al-Khelaifi, has announced Lionel Messi will join Paris Saint-Germain.

Abundant reports have already surfaced in France, Spain and Argentina that the former Barcelona talisman has agreed basic terms with the Ligue 1 giants after Barcelona made the shock announcement that Messi would bot be signing a new contract with them.

It’ll be a two-year contract with option for a third, worth €40m per season including performance-related bonuses and add-ons.

This evening, Khalifah Bin Hamad Al-Thani sent out a tweet with a picture of Messi wearing a Paris Saint-Germain jersey.

“Negotiations are officially concluded. And announce later.”

The account has a blue tick, meaning it is verified, and Al-Thani was a founder of the Qatar Investment Authority, which purchased Paris Saint-Germain. He was the Emir of Qatar from 1995 to 2013, before abdicating and handing over power to his son.

It remains to be seen how reliable this statement is, but multiple reports all over Europe and South America are confident Messi will be wearing the PSG jersey this season.

There are even suggestions PSG have booked the Eiffel Tower for a special presentation ceremony on August 10.
