Former Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti suffered defeat in his first match since re-taking charge of Real Madrid and some fans soured by his sudden departure for Real Madrid have taken the opportunity to take some unkind digs into his sides.
Ancelotti left the Blues in sudden, totally unexpected circumstances last month to return to the Spanish capital for his second spell in charge of Los Blancos, a move that left Everton desperately searching for a new manager, which finally resulted in former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez taking over the reins at Goodison Park.
Benitez is currently in Florida with his new Everton players, while Ancelotti is now warming up for his second stint at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Madrid’s first pre-season fixture of the summer saw them take on Scottish premiership title winners Rangers at Ibrox in a friendly.
Despite scoring first through Rodrygo, Los Blancos lost the game 2-1 after goals from Fashion Sakala and Cedric Itten, to hand Ancelotti his first defeat in his first match in charge.
Madrid managed just one shot on target despite fielding the likes of Marcelo, Martin Odegaard and Luca Jovic.
Everton fans saw the result and took to social media to express their thoughts and emotions on seeing their former manager taste defeat.
Here is a juicy selection of what the Everton sourpusses had to say:
Richard Peace: “Don’t tell us Carlo, although you lost the game you were impressed with the energy and spirit of your team!”
Yvonne O’Grady: “GOOD!”
Angie Irmak: “Hope he loses a few more.”
Anthony Woods: “Grass is always greener… Apparently…”
Scousericey: “Sounds like ‘more attractive and attacking football’”
Bluebray: “Good hope it continues. Up the Barca!!!!”
Matt Taylor: “What a shame.”
