Heung-min Son blazes new trails with four-goal supershow at Southampton

South Korean forward Heung-min Son brilliantly netted four times from four Harry Kane assists as Spurs demolished the Saints.

Son scored four times with Harry Kane creating all four assists and himself netted once in an extraordinary game which saw a revitalised Spurs side come from behind to beat the Saints 5-2.

After a disallowed goal for each side in the first half, Danny Ings gave the hosts a deserved lead in the 32nd minutesafter he brilliantly latched onto Kyle Walker-Peters’ pass and finished low past Hugo Lloris.

Spurs seemed to be toiling at first but against the run of play managed to spur themselves back into the game just before half-time after Kane whipped an early ball into Son’s path and the Soth Korean forward fired past Alex McCarthy into the Saints net.

Although many had predicted a fairly even second-half, Spurs defied all expectations and instead ran riot, creating havoc among Southampton’s defence.

Son got his second goal just two minutes after the break when he raced away from his markers after Kane’s through ball found him and coolly finished it off.

It was agaian the same duo who combined brilliantly to see Son complete his hat-trick after a lovely chipped pass set him free to score again.

Amazingly, the duo seemed to want to have the last say as in the 73rd minute of play, Kane was the provider for a fourth time as his perfect cross found Son who chipped the ball over McCarthy.

And as if to say he was also not off the mark himself, Kane finally got the goal he deserved eight minutes later after he tapped home as Erik Lamela hit the post.

There was still time for Southampton to get a late consolation through an Ings penalty, but the game will be remembered for the incredibly immaculate individual performances by the blazing hot duo.

The result sees Spurs recover from their opening day defeat at home to Everton, and they will be hoping to get some momentum going with three games to come in the next week.

They face Leyton Orient in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, Macedonian side Shkendija in the Europa League on Thursday and finally Newcastle in the Premier League on Sunday.

There should be a lot of exciting things happening in the Spurs corner with former ace Gareth Bale now back in the action.
