Any football lover worth his salt worth truly appreciate the desperation and desolation that Lionel Messi now feels and gladly forgive him, or even cheer him on, if he were to lift up his middle finger to the Barca board, who comprise the main reason for the debilitation and collapse of the Blaugrana giants. However, being the true gentleman and GOAT that he truly epitomises, he has chosen to send his message of absolute frustration, anger and disappointment another way – and about time, too.
Lionel Messi is now defiantly piling the pressure on the Barcelona board. His stance regarding the imbroglio at Barcelona has been shown in no uncertain terms – it’s either the board run by incumbent president Bartomeu leaves, or Messi himself will voluntarily head for the exit .
The Argentine is gravely dissatisfied with the grossly inept management under the dismal management of Bartomeu, and the obvious lack of planning. Not to mention the latest 8-2 humiliation against Bayern Munich, which stands clearly to date as Messi’s worst defeat in his career.
It is also evident that the only way Messi would change his mind about leaving the club is if the Blaugrana go through a new and catalytic change beginning from the management at the very core of the crumbling establishment to its very foundations. Clearly, too, the rumors regarding the Argentine leaving his home club is the only way to exert pressure on Bartomeu to force the president and his cohorts in the board to leave the Nou Camp.
Even though Messi has communicated that he wants to leave immediately, a senior member within the club reminded that “Lionel Messi has a contract until June 2021, with a release clause of €700m”. Not that this contractual disclaimer could in any way deter the determined Argentine maestro from following up on his decision if total change is not immediately implemented at Barcelona, beginning with the leaving of the Board, as he has demanded.
We are talking now about the best player on the planet, bar none. With Lionel Messi, anything can happen. He has clearly demonstrated this on the pitch his entire career.
We will just need to wait and see how the Barcelona management will respond to Messi’s behavior. However murky the situation is at Barca, one thing is crystal clear – this 33-year-old has had enough of this Barca Board.
