[VIDEO] Karim Benzema wants to retire at Real Madrid

Karim Benzema has signed a one-year contract extension with Real Madrid, prolong his original contract until 2022.

He has scored 12 goals in La Liga, only one goal behind Lionel Messi and scored 4 goals during Champions League campaign.

It’s a reward to his consistency this season but according to Marca, Benzema only signed for a year as he wants to take a cautious approach before he turns 34 in two years’ time.

He scored 29 goals in all competition last season but his goalscoring rate is improving this season, particularly since Cristiano Ronaldo left the club.

Benzema joined Real in 2009 and have been staying with the club for 10 years.

Despite rumours linking to his departure in the last few years, he reportedly very settled in Madrid, presumably due to his excellent relationship with Florentino Perez.

Over the last 10 years, Benzema have won 17 major titles with Real, including two La Liga titles and 4 Champions League trophies.
