Liverpool to get a shot in the arm due to Coronavirus pandemic

BREAKING NEWS: All Liverpool and Premier League fixtures suspended with immediate effect due to spread of Coronavirus pandemic

A statement from the FA has been released stating that:

“The FA, Premier League, EFL and FA Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Championship have collectively agreed to postpone the professional game in England until Friday 3 April at the earliest.”

“This action, which will be kept under constant review, has been taken due to the increasing numbers of clubs taking steps to isolate their players and staff because of the Covid-19 virus.”

With this latest announcement and development, Liverpool could be getting a shot in the arm that oddly augurs in their favour albeit coronavirus-induced and could even now proceed to win the Premier League title in their next game if the match against Manchester City takes place when they next meet.

The outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic with the Covid-19 virus strain now taking its toll on European soil has given rise to panic and alarm throughout Europe, effectively disrupting the English football season. This new development is now aiding the Liverpool cause, not that the favoured League’s Champions-elect are in need of one, as they may have become the unwitting beneficiary of the abrupt decision to postpone all professional football in the country until April 3.

The football authorities have enforced suspension of all matches for the following three weeks has  in an attempt to contain the rapid spread of the coronavirus that has swept across the globe with the World Health Organisation (WHO) announcing Europe now as the centre of the pandemic.

With both Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi and Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta having both tested positively for COVID-19 this week – although both have reported recovering well and are in stable condition – English football’s governing bodies jointly agreed on Friday morning that all match fixtures and activities would be placed temporarily on hold.

“Following a meeting of Shareholders today, it was unanimously decided to suspend the Premier League with the intention of returning on 4 April, subject to medical advice and conditions at the time,” read a statement. Premier League shuts down due to coronavirus as Everton and Liverpool games called off.”

With immediate effect, Liverpool’s match against Everton at Goodison Park on Monday evening is no longer on the cards, which has come as no surprise as the Blues having revealed that one of their players was showing symptoms of the virus and the squad were instructed to self-isolate.

This means Jurgen Klopp’s side, still needing just six points for a first League crown since 1990, will be out of action until April 3 at least.

Although the plans are very much subject to change, the Reds next game would be to the Etihad to square off against Manchester City on Sunday April 5 with the former needing the equivalent of just two wins from their final nine matches for a first English Premier League titleafter a 30-year travail in search of the holy grail. This has resulted in an absolutely valid and genuine six points emerging for the Reds when they travel to City upon the football resumes.

Should Liverpool emerge triumphant against defending champions Manchester United at the Etihad, the Reds would then be officially crowned the Premier League champions with this one last win needed.

The much-needed win against City would give Liverpool a 28-point lead ahead of their Etihad rivals. This gap would be mathematically impossible for Pep Guardiola’s side, the defending champions, to overtake.

Well, odd as it may sound, it looks like the coronavirus pandemic seems to be not entirely on a course of total destruction for some at least!
