Newcastle United are keenly monitoring Leeds United duo Tyler Adams and Brendan Aaronson, according to Football League World.
Adams and Aaronson both joined the Whites on five-year contracts last summer, with the former arriving from RB Leipzig and the latter from Red Bull Salzburg.
However FLW notes that Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is now eager to bring the USA internationals to St James’ Park this summer to bolster the team even further after their well-deserved success in the recently-concluded Premier League season.
“Sources have exclusively informed Football League World that Newcastle United have their eyes on Adams and his fellow American midfielder Brendan Aaronson in a bid to bolster their squad ahead of a UEFA Champions League campaign,” according to FLW.
“The Magpies of course finished in the top four of the Premier League under Eddie Howe this past season and are looking for fresh faces, with Adams and Aaronson on their list.
“FLW has been told that Adams is the more likelier target and his potential acquisition could give Bruno Guimaraes more freedom in the engine room, whilst Aaronson is perhaps not first-choice on their list of attacking midfielders this summer.”
Undoubtedly the Magpies will be supplementing their ranks this summer in preparation for life in the Champions League, as Howe definitely needs a few new fable bodies to allow his side to compete on all fronts.
They are obviously not short on financial backing, but will need to be careful not to breach any financial fair play regulations, and that can happen as a result of signing the Leeds pair, who will thankfully be available for relatively low fees given the club’s current situation.
The Whites will now be playing in the Championship in the new season, albeit currently without a director of football.
Newcastle’s owners meanwhile can offer plenty of incentive for both players to make a switch to St James’ Park this summer, with the American duo probably finding it very difficult to say no to top-flight Premier League and Champions League football next season.
