[VIDEO] Chinese footballer sacked after trying to run away from police roadblock

China footballer Yu Hanchao caught red handed after he was seen altering his licence plate number to avoid police roadblock in Guangzhao.

According to Guangzhou city police, non-local vehicles are only permitted to drive for four days in a row.

After that, drivers will need to stay home for the next four days.

Yu’s vehicle is registered in his hometown of Liaoning, which is over 2,700 kilometres from Guangzhou.

In a vide, it shows Yu trying to change an E to an F on his number plate, possibly to avoid from being detected.

The 33-year-old was subsequently detained by Guangzhou Police.

His current club Guangzhou Evergrande have sacked him on immediate effect.

The club has a policy that said any player who breaks the law will be released.

“The player Yu Hanchao severely violated the disciplinary provisions of the club, and therefore was dismissed,” a club statement read.

Yu will be facing 15 days in custody, a fine of 5000 Chinese Yuan (£562/$709) and a 12-point penalty on his driver’s licence.

Yu is one of the stars in China national team since he made his debut in 2009.

Yu helped his team becoming the most successful outfit in China in recent seasons, as Guangzhou Evergrande won eight Chinese Super League title.

The club have also won the AFC Champions League in 2013 and 2015.

Currently, the Chinese Super League is still suspended due to the coronavirus crisis.
