Spanish outlet Cuatro reports that Erling Haaland has made known to Borussia Dortmund his decision about leaving the club in the summer. It seems the Norwegian striker and his family have already bought a house in Marbella, Spain – which adds fuel to the fire growing about his intention to join either the Los Blancos or the Blaugrana.
Recently, Haaland has been linked strongly to Real Madrid, but Barcelona has also lately emerged as a strong contender in the race too, especially after the re-emergence of Joan Laporta as the new club president after a landslide victory.
English giants Manchester United and Manchester City are also strongly linked with the Norwegian star but after his agent Mino Raiola’s words towards the former and his fractious relationship with the latter’s boss, Pep Guardiola, it now looks like his destination is more likely in the La Liga direction.
As for the tussle between the two LaLIga giants for the Dortmund wunderkind, recent reports claim that Haaland is closer to Real Madrid while Barcelona’s newly-elected president Laporta’s strong relationship with the player’s superagent is capable of changing the narrative imperatively.
The 20-year-old has amassed a staggering 33 goals in 31 games this season for the Bundesliga side with 8 assists as well. Not to mention that 10 of his goals came in the Champions League, wherein he almost single-handedly ousted Sevilla from the competition.
It would be most interesting to see where the young gem ends up, with the summer transfer market promising to be inundated with complications, considering that the financial situation for clubs does not look anywhere near the best to make such a huge signing to vie for the likes of Haaland.
It would not even be a surprise to see Haaland having to spend another season in the Bundesliga if none of Europe’s top clubs can dole out the heavy mullahs for his signing, but one thing is clear – sooner or later, the Champions League top scorer will end up in one of Europe’s elite clubs.
