Nuno Espirito Santo, currently leading Nottingham Forest in a strong push for Champions League qualification, could be in line for a surprising return to Tottenham Hotspur amid growing speculation about Ange Postecoglou’s future.
Despite Forest’s impressive campaign under Nuno, Tottenham’s struggles this season have cast doubt on Postecoglou’s ability to steer the club forward, with the Australian manager likely facing the sack regardless of whether Spurs win the Europa League
Daniel Levy, Tottenham’s chairman, is expected to make significant decisions this summer, including appointing a new manager. Nuno, who previously managed Spurs for just four months in 2021, is reportedly being considered for a second stint.
Former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes Nuno’s name could be in the frame, stating, “Levy got it wrong with Nuno Espirito Santo. You look at it now, his name would certainly be in the frame if the job came available. But actually, the timing, the person, the timing in the club, it was just a wrong fit for Nuno at the time. But you look at what he’s done at every other club, maybe he wasn’t given enough time at Tottenham.”
However, Nuno’s success at Forest, where he has the team on course for European football, makes it unlikely he would leave for Tottenham. Spurs’ dismal domestic performance, sitting 14th in the Premier League, has highlighted the need for a managerial change and a squad overhaul.
With Postecoglou’s exit seemingly inevitable, Levy faces a pivotal summer in reshaping the club’s future.
