David Moyes is apparently not short of options as he has already landed his next job barely weeks after announcing his departure from West Ham at the end of the season.
The former Manchester United boss had a most successful period in a tenure lasting over 4 years with the Irons and has coolly waltzed his way into his first role away from the London Stadium, albeit with the role not being one in management.
It was revealed earlier this week that the Irons boss would leave the club ‘via mutual consent’ at the close of 2023/24, after more than four years in charge at the London Stadium, joining talkSPORT as part of the broadcaster’s team to provide coverage for EURO 2024.
“Give it Moysey for the Euros,” talkSPORT posted on social media to brag boasting rights in announcing their latest coup. “David Moyes joins the talkSPORT team to provide his expert insight and analysis throughout the tournament.”
Emmanuel Petit and Ashley Young will be joining the Premier League veteran to jointly provide coverage this summer. In addition, Alan Pardew and Graeme Souness – former erstwhile adversaries of Moyes – will also be in Germany as part of talkSPORT’s team.
The Hammers’ out-going boss’ contract with the club expires at the end of the season, with the usually reticent manager looking back with the fondest memories of his time spent with the club. The popular 61-year-old Scot was primarily instrumental in helping to deliver the team’s first European trophy in almost half a century.
“I have enjoyed four and a half brilliant years at West Ham, and the Club is in a stronger position than when I returned back in 2019,” said Moyes.
“When I joined West Ham for a second time, the Club was one place above the relegation zone, and it has been a terrific journey to have achieved three consecutive seasons in Europe.
“After leading the Club to safety, we guided the team to finishes of 6th and 7th in the Premier League, and I was delighted when we won the Europa Conference League title last June – the Club’s first major trophy in 43 years.
“I would like to thank all the players for their support, and all the success they have achieved, over the last four and a half years. I have really enjoyed working with everyone at West Ham, and I would like to thank the Board for giving me the opportunity to manage this great Club.
“I wish my eventual successor, the Directors, the players, the staff, the fans, and everybody at West Ham, all the very best for the future.”
