Graeme Souness slams Hugo Lloris as being ‘past his sell-by date’ after latest howler

Hugo Lloris is apparently “past his sell-by date” after his priceless howler contrbuted to Tottenham’s defeat at the hands of Aston Villa, according to Liverpool legend and pundit Graeme Sounness.

Sounness accordingly laid blame on the Spurs goalkeeper following his failure to handle Douglas Luiz’s long-range shot on Sunday, which gave the opportunity to Emi Buendia’s opener in the subsequent 2-0 loss.

“I’ve said it for a long time, since the start of last season he’s made four errors that have led to goals,” he told Sky Sports.

“That’s the worst record of any goalkeeper in the Premier League.

“For me, he’s past his sell-by date.”

Lloris’ contract will be expiring in the summer and rumors are already swirling for some time that the club are pondering moving on from their 36-year-old club captain.

Tottenham gaffter Antonio Conte admitted post-game that conceding the goal, the tenth in a row that Spurs have conceded first, could have been avoided.

He stated: “We conceded a goal. In football, we know that can happen.

“You dominate the game and then you concede a goal you can avoid. I think after this goal our feeling changed totally. I think the players felt they didn’t deserve to be 1-0 down and it was difficult. Now, we have to move on.”

Coming direct from mouth of the Italian serial-winning coach, that’s already saying a lot.
