PSG star Neymar speaks highly of Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho

An oddly out-of-form Manchester United attacker Jadon Sancho has been left out of England’s squad for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar, prompting Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil star Neymar to inadvertently suggest that the former Borussia Dortmund winger who had been in scintillating form prior to joining the Old Trafford club should be part of the England squad for the World Cup.

Neymar, with 75 goals and 54 assists in 121 appearances for his country, is in Qatar preparing for the upcoming tournament, and Brazil is tipped by many to lift the trophy in December. During an interview with the Telegraph, the focus shifted to opposing players when the Brazilian was asked for his view on the Three Lions’ chances at the upcoming tournament.

The Brazilian believes that the Three Lions have a chance of lifting the trophy and described Reds winger Sancho as an “incredible” player, oblivious of the fact that the 22-year-old is not a part of Gareth Southgate’s squad for the World Cup.

“I really forgot about England but obviously they have a chance!” Neymar said. “I really like (Harry) Kane and (Jadon) Sancho. They’re two incredible players and I have a special love for them because I like players that have their qualities.”

Sancho has unfathomably struggled for form since moving to Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 for a fee of around £73million and has scored just eight goals in 52 appearances.

The talented but immensely frustrated winger has not donned national colors since October 2021 despite having made 23 appearances for the Three Lions. He was first dropped by Southgate for the World Cup qualifiers against Albania and San Marino last November, and was not part of the squad for the international break in March and June this year.

Meanwhile, Sancho’s Old Trafford teammate Marcus Rashford has earned a recall for the first time since the Euro 2020 final and is part of the 26-man group in Qatar.
