Steven Gerrard “won’t be that worried” about Villa future

According to transfer insider Dean Jones, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the latest news from Villa Park, under pressure gaffer Steven Gerrard “won’t be worried” about his Villa future.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein, who was speaking on the Overlap Review, has alleged that Pochettino could potentially consider a move to Villa Park if the opportunity to manage the West Midlands giants avails itself.

This bit of huff and puff came just days after Football Insider revealed that Gerrard was under pressure at Villa, and that the club’s American owners will not be shy to sack the former Rangers manager if results do not pick up soon.  However, Jones is inclined to believe that the current Villa boss won’t be worried about rumors circulating regarding Pochettino being linked to the job, and that the Villa gaffer will have belief in himself to improve the current situation at the club.

“Steven Gerrard won’t be that worried.

“He’s got complete faith in his own ability as a coach and a manager to turn things around.

“But while that’s the case, like there’s no doubt he’s going to be under scrutiny after the international break, and that he has to start producing results.”

Whilst Gerrard himself may not be too worried about the security of his job, the Liverpool legend is admittedly skating on thin ice but the Villans’ win over Southampton could just have bought him a little of time.

Since taking on the job in November 2021, the Scottish Premiership-winning manager has recorded 12 wins while losing 16 of the 34 Premier League games he has taken charge of, a suggestion that he needs a quick turnaround of fortunes to overhaul his circumstances.
