Richarlison joins Tottenham from Everton in £60m transfer deal

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Richarlison from Everton in a deal that could be worth an eventual £60 million when performance-related add-ons are taken into consideration, according to The Athletic.

Richarlison, 25, had his medical done in Brazil on Thursday and is now the newest addition to the ranks of the north London club on a five-year deal after the initial £40 million bid for him was rejected by Everton on Wednesday before the counter offer was raised significantly. Although news emerged of another club showing late interest in him, that was insufficient to stop Spurs completing the deal.

The talented Brazilian had been plying his trade at Everton since 2018, having scored 53 goals in 152 appearances, but wanted to test himself on the highest-level European stage and Tottenham will now be the ones to give Richarlison the platform to do just that as Conte’s side qualified for the Champions League by finishing in fourth place last season despite strong charges made by Arsenal.

Richarlison, who has been capped 36 times by Brazil, joined Everton from Watford in a deal worth £40 million that also included a 10 per cent sell-on clause and has scored 10 goals in 30 Premier League games last season to help Everton stay in the top flight.

Richarlison becomes Tottenham’s fourth signing of the summer, joining Yves Bissouma, Fraser Forster and Ivan Perisic in north London.
