Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman confirmed on Wednesday that the club are on the brink of sealing the Memphis Depay.
At a news conference earlier in the day Depay had said that he wants to play for Koeman and urged supporters to “just wait, and then the news will come” and the latter subsequently offered a further update saying the deal isn’t completely finalized yet but certainly isn’t far away either.
“Memphis said something about it today and I can confirm that. It’s almost done. It hasn’t been signed yet, but almost. I wanted him last January, but if it does happen now, that’s great.”
The Barcelona boss also voiced his thoughts about having lost out on the Ronald Koeman confirms Memphis Depay deal‘is almost done’ deal as it was open knowledge he was very keen to bring in the midfielder from Liverpool, but the Dutchman has ended up at the Parc-des-Princes instead.
“That also had to do with the situation at Barcelona,” he said. “Another party has intervened. I talked to Gini about it and it was up to him to make the choice.”
Barcelona fans will be able to check out Memphis in action on Thursday when the Netherlands take on Austria in their second group match of Euro 2020.
