Christmas is finally here! For Barcelona, it’s certainly been a tough roller-coaster ride of a year having to cope with changes in football management, dealing with a recalcitrant president who’s since been forced to resign, appalling results on the pitch and even heartbreaking news for Blaugrana loyals regarding their talisman seeking to sever ties with the club he’s played for all his professional footballing career so far.
However, there is now optimism in the camp once again and fresh beacon of light is emanating from La Masia’s youth players.
Both SPORT and Mundo Deportivo have capitalized on the year-end festivities to bring exclusive interviews with two of Barcelona’s big stars – Ansu Fati for the men’s team and Jennifer Hermoso for the women’s.
While Hermoso is the highest goal-scorer in the club’s history and Fati the finest emerging superstar from La Masia – both players being also key to Barcelona’s success in 2021 with the strength to shoulder that burden – SPORT are also focusing on another one of Barcelona’s young starlets, Pedri.
Lately, especially after Fati’s injury, the midfielder, recently turned 18, has taken the stage by storm with his brilliant performances, with the paper saying Pedri is Barcelona’s Christmas gift. It seems to feel that way as the youngster has not only developed a wonderful connection with Lionel Messi on and off the pitch while also elevating the whole team in the best possible ways.
This augurs well for the Catalans with hope optimistically breaking through that 2021 could still be a good year for the club and the fans even though there’s still quite some unfinished business to be attended to at Camp Nou.
