Kedah FA’s decision to rebrand the team’s name to Darulaman FC due to the club’s privatization process has send a shockwave to the local football community.
In fact, the reason given by the President of the Kedah Football Association, Sanusi Md Nor about the use of Darulaman FC starting next season has angered Kedah fans even more.
“When we think about it, Kedah Football Club will be KFC, we do not want to be known as fried chicken, so we want to avoid it by naming the team Darulaman FC,” he said in a press conference.
“However, we will still use the same color, the same song, green and yellow, we can use the same chant, but the logo has to be different, DFC has to have its own logo.”
Kedah’s new logo also become controversial but the management have received the feedback and will re-introduce the new logo that will include Kedah state emblem.
In terms of ownership, Sanusi admits that Darulaman FC is still under the management of Kedah FA.
However, Kedah FA will hold talks with several interested parties in the near future, including those who want to own the team, just like Kelantan FC takeover by Norizam Tukiman.
The latest development occurred after Kedah completed the separation process from the Football Association (FA) to the Football Club (FC) before 30 September.
