Chaos again at Barcelona as board members plan to resign in protest over baffling transfer decision

The one thing this summer has proved time and again with amazing consistency is that Barcelona are a badly messed up basket case behind the scenes at the boardroom level.

It certainly appears that Bartomeu and his bozos running the club just cannot agree on anything, which has left the club meandering on its merry path towards mediocrity and that came to a head when Lionel Messi did his signature burofax act and demanded to leave.

Then for a while it looked like some kind of temporary rapprochement had been brokered and the appointment of Ronald Koeman as manager also looked possibly promising, but the whole situation surrounding Luis Suarez now is evolving into a total mess.

It actually looked like he had agreed to join Atletico Madrid and a deal was done whereby he would leave on a free transfer but payments would be made depending on the caveat that Atleti would achieve certain things.

From Barca’s point of view it’s absolutely baffling and just makes no sense because Suarez is still a quality player, although obviously not to someone like Koeman, so there’s a reasonable argument to be made that they are actively strengthening a title rival club for free, which is insane.

That notwithstanding, there’s also no sign of a replacement coming in, not to mention the lack of a transfer fee not helping, so it’s no surprise that certain members of the board are raising the alarm flag, with the reports suggesting that some directors are so furious at this that they plan to resign in protest, so that could likely put this transfer on hold for now.

Keeping in mind that Suarez is very close to Lionel Messi which means the Argentine talisman won’t want him to leave either, this could play a part in the affair and influence the final decision.

The club are in such an unenviable mess that they really need to clean house behind the scenes and start anew.

Somehow, controversy is never far removed from El Pistolero, famed footballer with a penchant for taking a bite at his opponents. Perhaps the nickname El Vampirello would be more appropriate.
