FIFA has officially allow leagues to open their transfer windows before the current season ends, after it was delayed for three months due to coronavirus.
This means, clubs can sign new players right away and players are allowed to join new clubs.
However, clubs will not be able to field new signings until the next season begins and this include free agents.
The decision also forced Premier League and La Liga to reconsider their current standpoint, as they plan to open summer transfer window only the season has been completed.
FIFA has also called on clubs to offer contract extension to the players, as many of their contract typically expire on Jun 30, several weeks before the season ends.
Besides that, players who have signed pre-contract agreements to join new clubs on Jul 1 be allowed to stay at their current clubs until the season ends.
FIFA also decided to allow players who are free agents to play for three different clubs in the same season in order to avoid any concerns regarding unemployed players.
