Mbappé happy at PSG and considering lucrative contract extension

If you think you’re hearing faint sounds of someone sobbing, there’s no need to be alarmed as that’s probably the woeful mourning of Real Madrid’s manager Zinedine Zidane and club president Florentino Pérez as they learn of the recent news that Kylian Mbappé is considering a lusciously lucrative contract extension as an enticement to remain at Paris Saint-Germain.

Acccording to L’Equipe Mbappé is said to be happy in Paris and Nasser Al-Khelaifi, PSG’s president, is reportedly prepared to offer the 21-year-old FIFA World Cup winner a contract extension that would bring his wages on par with his teammate, Neymar Jr.

Neymar’s wages are currently almost double that of Mbappé, which is quizzical considering both are at par in world-class ability, with the Brazilian also in line to receive a contract extension according to ESPN.

Mbappe’s current contract with PSG would have run its full term in 2022 and it was reported  that Real Madrid planned to wait until the summer of 2021 to make their bid, with the idea being that PSG wouldn’t want to lose their superstar on a free the following season and would be willing to negotiate.

There’s a possibility PSG could keep Mbappé until 2022 and let him leave on a free transfer but obviously, the ideal outcome for any PSG fan would be that Mbappé signs a contract extension now to quell the transfer rumors.

With the prevailing atmosphere of gloom due to the coronavirus, the uncertainty of the transfer market augurs in favor of PSG in hopefully extending Mbappé’s and Neymar’s tenures as few clubs could realistically afford their transfer fee and wages. If that were to happen, Al-Khelaifi and PSG’s sporting director Leonardo could well deserve their own statues outside the Parc des Princes for playing their cards with such brilliant astuteness and composure to trump the opposition.
