Neymar’s relationship with PSG under the hammer again

Reports in Spain are making the rounds that Neymar’s relationship with Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo is “broken” as the Brazilian’s heart is dead set on returning to Barcelona in the upcoming summer transfer window despite a brilliant season in France with PSG.

Neymar was reported to have had a supposedly explosive row with club boss Leonardo after having made it known to the PSG chief that he was harboring regrets leaving Barca in 2017 and he subsequently expended all efforts in pushing hard for an exit from the elitist Parisian club last year. With his intentions laid so clearly on the table for all to see, doubts arose that he would ever play for the club again.

The impasse and the dark clouds eventually cleared after his relationship with the club, especially the part that was presented to the public, was mended and he proceeded to score 13 times in 15 Ligue 1 games for the league leaders in his usual dazzling style.

However, after that tranquil lull, Spanish La Liga giants, Barcelona, refusing to let peace remain, have again dug up the bones and have openly renewed their interest on signing him in the upcoming window as the Blaugrana bosses are anxious to please their dominant and influential superstar, Messi, who has again voiced his desire to have his old team mate and great buddy Neymar back by his side again to resume the incredible partnership they had established before the Brazilian left the club in 2017 for PSG. News has also been rife that Neymar is adamant this time around in wanting to return to Camp Nou come hell or high heaven this summer.

Spanish outlet SPORT latest reports claim that Neymar’s relationship with PSG is “broken”, and that he is expected to leave.

The outlet also claims that his determination to leave is the same as it was last year, and hence the club expects him to make the overtures to push the move through.

The Catalonian side of things seem to see a placid picture of blue skies with everything nice as Barcelona are reportedly exuding unbridled confidence that Neymar will be allowed to leave due to his relationship with Leonardo again taking another downturn.

Somehow it is a tad odd that the same Spanish news outlet has it that PSG are unwilling to enter into any negotiations at the moment due mainly to the overall uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic adversely impacting every nut, bolt and gear in the entire football vehicular machinery not only in Europe but across the entire globe.

Ligue 1, like all other football leagues and all sporting competitions around the world, has been brought to a total standstill until further notice. Likewise the summer transfer window is also likely to be delayed or perhaps even suspended as a result, which would leave PSG in a compromising and difficult position regarding the affairs involving their current squad.

PSG at present have 11 players in their fold approaching the end of their contractual tenures, including the likes of Edinson Cavani, Thiago Silva, Thomas Meunier and Layvin Kurzawa. With this scenario crowding in on them, Neymar’s deteriorating relationship with the club could in fact work in his and Barcelona’s advantage as the Parisians may not even have a choice but to leverage on the prevailing circumstances and offload him in order and use the funds to overhaul their squad with young whizz kid Kylian Mbappe as the lynchpin, if they can convince him to stay where he is. Ultimately this would be a win-win situation for all involved.

As for Mbappe, like Neymar, he will be entering into the final year of his contract next summer, and uncertainty is also in the air whether he will extend his stay at the Parc des Princes.
