Barcelona want Aubameyang to replace Suarez

Following Luis Suarez injury that could keep him out for four months, Barcelona are looking to sign Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on loan this month.

Its an ambitious move but report said Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu, CEO Oscar Grau, director of football Eric Abidal, technical secretary Ramon Planes and head coach Quique Setien all agreed that a striker must be brought in to cover for the injured Suarez.

Aubameyang has been a target ever since he stalled over the contract renewal as his current Arsenal deal will expire in 18 months.

Arsenal are still convinced that the Gabon international will stay at the club with Mikel Arteta denying any possibility of Aubameyang leaving this month.

Even the striker himself denied he was looking to move on.

“I would also like to react to some of the rumours that are going around about me in the media. People like making up stories and they should focus on what’s happening on the pitch.

“They talk too much and it does my head in! I am the Arsenal captain. I love this club. I am committed to it and desperate to bring it back to the top, where it belongs.”

Aubameyang, who has scored 16 goals in 26 games this season, considering to leave Arsenal after turbulent campaign under Unai Emery this season, as he felt the club lack of direction and at the age of 30, he believes he is at the stage of competing for the league title.
