Jadon Sancho’s proposed move to Al-Ettifaq has taken a tumble after the prodigal Manchester United winger was targeted by the Saudi Pro League outfit before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Saudi outfit Al-Ettifaq’s proposed loan move to sign the former Borussia Dortmund winger collapsed after the Red Devils added an obligation to buy next summer for £50million. The Saudi club wanted to bring in Sancho before Thursday’s 10pm deadline . Sancho’s future has been left uncertain following his social media response to Erik ten Hag, who claimed the 23-year-old was left out of the United squad that suffered a 3-1 defeat at Arsenal due to poor training performances.
In his own defense, Sancho claimed he had been made a ‘scapegoat’ at the club, citing that there are ‘other reasons’ to why he was not selected. It is said Ten Hag has been feeling let down and disappointed by the winger’s outburst after having done his best to get Sancho back to his best.
Then on Wednesday the possibility of Sancho leaving emerged with Al-Ettifaq plotting a surprise loan move for the star before the Saudi Arabia transfer window closed on Thursday. Under the watchful eyes of Steven Gerard, they wanted to add Sancho to their squad, having already signed the likes of Jordan Henderson and Demarai Gray this summer.
However, the proposed loan move for the winger collapsed after United included an obligation to buy Sancho for £50m, according to the Daily Mail. Sancho was said to be open to the idea of moving to the Middle-East and working with Gerrard.
As for Sancho, he is now set to remain at Old Trafford but could face disciplinary action for his accusatory comments directed at Ten Hag.
