Xavi Hernandez to Manchester United a possibility amid Ruben Amorim’s struggles

Manchester United may consider a managerial change at the end of the season, according to reports. Ruben Amorim, who took over as head coach in November, has faced significant challenges. Under his leadership, United have secured only 15 points from 15 Premier League games, raising concerns about his tenure.

Before Amorim’s appointment, Manchester United reportedly approached Xavi Hernandez to replace Erik ten Hag. However, Xavi declined the offer, preferring to wait until the end of the season. He had hoped for continuity under a provisional manager like Ruud van Nistelrooy until he could take over in the summer. Instead, United opted for Amorim.

Amorim’s poor results have put him under pressure, and there are ongoing discussions about potentially reconsidering Xavi for the role. Despite United’s struggles in the Premier League, they have shown promise in the FA Cup and Europa League. The team’s switch to a 3-4-2-1 system has yielded mixed results.

Despite these challenges, it is suggested that co-owner Jim Ratcliffe should maintain his support for Amorim beyond the summer. Amorim lacks players suited to his tactical philosophy, and he should be backed with significant signings to align with his vision. It would be prudent to assess his performance based on the first half of next season rather than making a hasty decision.

Xavi, meanwhile, is set to return to management after a year-long sabbatical this summer. While he remains an option for Manchester United, the club should prioritize giving Amorim sufficient time to prove himself before considering a change.
