Former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gear has reportedly turned down £500,000-a-week offer to be reunited with his former Premier League club teammate Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia.
Speculation has been rampant linking Golden Glove winner De Gea to various clubs across the globe, yet the Spaniard has not joined any since his exit from United in the summer, having been replaced by Cameroon international Andre Onana.
However, De Gea recently turned down an opportunity to earn a bumper pay packet in the region of £500,000-a-week at Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, as the goalkeeper’s wife is apparently not enamored with the idea of a move to the Middle East, according to The Sun.
A move from English shores to the MLS is also beckoning to De Gea, with David Beckham’s Inter Miami interested in luring the Spaniard to the DRV PNK Stadium, where he would join Lionel Messi and former international teammates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.
That aside, a move closer to home could also be shaping up as the 32-year-old has also been linked with an unexpected return to play club football in Spain for the first time since departing Atletico Madrid in 2011, with reports from the country claiming De Gea and representatives from second division side Eldense met earlier this month – with the potential for him to take an ownership stake in the club as part of a potential deal.
Additionally, Valencia and Real Betis are also said to be keen on signing the Premier League winner although his wage demands do not favor the chances of a deal being struck.
