Former Liverpool player claims Fabinho was ‘troublemaker’ at Liverpool and ‘nuisance to management’

A report has emerged in the wake of Reds’ player Fabinho’s summer transfer to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad that the Brazilian’s sale might actually be a blessing in disguise for the Reds, according to a Liverpool flop.

It now appears that the Reds’ sale of the Brazilian might have been motivated by more than just financial considerations as cashing in on the star may work out as a masterstroke with all things considered although they have lost a prominent member of their XI.

Doubtless Jurgen Klopp’s side have now recouped all of their initial investment in the Brazil international after he completed a £40million transfer to Saudi outfit Al-Ittihad, yet there are many among the Kop faithful who were happy with his departure at the agreed fee enough in view of not only his declining performances as it seems now that were other reasons behind the sale.

Liverpool flop Jermaine Pennant has given his perhaps ascerbic takeout on the Brazilian in the aftermath of the sale after claiming he’d heard mumblings from Anfield suggesting Fabinho was a ‘bad egg’ in the dressing room. A view that’s obviously in stark contrast to that of the publicly-celebrated player whose dominant performances helped guide the club to top European and Premier League honors.

Although former England under-21 star and Liverpool winger Pennant claimed he has contacts in high places, his comments on the Brazilian star could be only aspersions as his musings are so far based merely on gossip he’s picked up and should be taken with perhaps even a whole tumblerful of salt.

“Fabinho’s performances over the last two years suggest that either his legs have gone or he doesn’t really want to be there anymore,” the 40-year-old wrote for LordPing.co.uk. “Rumour has it that he’s a troublemaker in the changing room, that’s what I’ve heard from people close to the club.

“I’ve heard he’s a bad egg. I don’t know the ins and outs, but I hear he’s a nuisance to management in terms of professionalism. In his performances and in training, he’s not giving his all. You can see it. And his performances suggest he’s on the cliff of his peak.”

Pennant further opined that Fabinho’s £40m fee is ‘perfect’, given the latter appears to have taken a step backwards in recent times.

Suffice it to say that Pennant made 81 appearances for Liverpool over three trophyless seasons before he was shipped off to Portsmouth on loan.
