Three Lions’s captain Harry Kane is widely expected to leave Spurs this summer with Manchester United strongly targeting him and former Los Blancos skipper Sergio Ramos has warned the Englishman not to turn down the chance to play for Real Madrid.
With only 12 months left on his contract, Kane is expected to leave Tottenham this summer and Manchester United and Madrid are among the few European top-flight clubs able to afford him due to the forward reportedly commanding a price tag north of the £100m mark.
Los Blancos have now joined in the hunt for a big-name striker in the wake of Karim Benzema’s departure last week and have the England captain in their crosshairs as the man to lead the frontline.
Former Los Blancos strongman Ramos enjoyed a decorated spell during his 16 years at Madrid with a haul of 22 trophies and the former Spain captain issued a plea to Kane to not pass up an opportunity to finally get a hold on some silverware.
Speaking via The Mirror, he said: “My advice to any player is don’t turn down the opportunity to play for Real Madrid – it is a special club who know how to win.
“He [Kane] has an incredible physical presence, you can’t score as many goals as he does in the Premier League and not be able to play the physical side of the game.
“But also he can play the technical side of the game as well and I don’t think he gets enough credit for that. Yes, he is a great goal scorer but also he is a great football player as well.”
Despite singing Kane’s praises, Ramos admitted that anyone coming in to replace Benzema will have a sizeable task on their hands to replicate the feats of the Frenchman. He added:
“What you do need to do though is bring in a quality forward who can come in and score goals. Not everybody can play for Real Madrid as there is so much pressure and expectation – so it needs to be the right player.”
As the football world is well aware, the likes of Eden Hazard, Kaka, Nicolas Anelka, James Rodriguez and Luka Jovic had all noticeably struggled to cope with the pressure of having to shine in the frontline for Los Blancos.
