Messi on the prowl for more goals as PSG line up against Rennes

The MNM triumvirate – Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe – that’s already begun to warm up  is expected to be back in action once again for Ligue 1 leaders PSG when they face Rennes t his weekend.

Messi had the Parc des Princes faithful on their feet as he opened his scoring account for Paris Saint-Germain in the midweek victory over Manchester City and will be at his predatorial best once more when Les Parisiens head off to Rennes for a Sunday Ligue 1 clash.

PSG are busy scooting away with the league title, having won all of their opening eight matches, despite having received criticism for lacking fluency and a sense of urgency in their performances, often leavng it till late to score vital goals this season, particularly in the recent fixtures against Metz and Lyon.

In this upcoming final match before the international break, head coach Mauricio Pochettino will be looking into pushing his side to maintain their winning streak and a strong team can be anticipated this Sunday for the clash.

Needless to say, the combination of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Messi should start be ever-ready at the forefront of the attack again, and this time Pochettino will be a bit hard-pressed to pick between a 4-3-3 and a 4-2-3-1 with Angel Di Maria returning.

Marco Verratti brilliantly burst back onto the scene after a calf injury in midweek and should be featuring again from the beginning, together with Idrissa Gueye to bolster the midfield, whilst Ander Herrera could find himself benched for Gini Wijnaldum to return.

Juan Bernat could be given a role to play in defence for the first time in a year as Sergio Ramos continues to wait it out for his first PSG bow.

Meanwhile the tussle between the sticks continues between Gianluigi Donnarumma and Keylor Navas.

On the other half of the pitch, Rennes are also coming off midweek action, having defeated Vitesse 2-1 away from home and will have had the luxury of rotating their squad in midweek to rest their players before this encounter.
