Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone admitted in the interview that after winning the LaLiga title in 2014, he felt that it was difficult to win the league again as he lose almost all of the players during the new season.
It took him more than five years to assemble a new title-winning squad, finally securing the 11th LaLiga title in 2020/2021 season.
“Of course, its quite amazing we won La Liga again after a gap of seven years and with only one player, Koke who was with us when we win it in 2014,” he said in this week’s LaLiga World interview.
“Winning LaLiga has given us a real boost and helped us keep growing as club and a team.

“On the positive side, we pretty much kept the whole squad together and that with the addition of odd reinforcement means we are looking very solid.
“It was hard in 2014 because a lot of players left us.
“This time around, having won the championship, the majority have stayed and helps us put all our strength and effort into the first game against Celta, after that we hope to keep on doing what we have always been doing.”
Simeone believes Atletico will continue to be a competitive team that will challenge for the title again this season.
“I’m feeling very confident because I see a lot of energy, I see the club growing.
“It’s been run brilliantly and all this progress means we are increasing our profile around the world.
“All that’s really positive, having a strong and competitive team is what we are all about, its what we aspire to.”
