England and Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho is likely to depart the Bundesliga this season as the latest reports suggest he’s willing to play in the La Liga, with the smoldering Clasico rivals his likeliest options.
News is going around that Sancho is reportedly open to a move to Spain, as the back-in-form 21-year-old looks likely to leave the Bundesliga this summer after spending four years at the Westfalenstadion.
Manchester United have all along, since two summers back, been top favourites to sign the winger after showing keen interest in the player for the best part of two years as he has reportedly been Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top priority since he joined the club.
However, in a sudden twist, The Times report that Sancho would be willing to give the Spanish LaLiga a try, with perennial rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid likely to be top favorites for his signature.
Unfortunately it goes without saying that both clubs will be handicapped by the asking price, which could hover aorund £80m – a figure Spanish football’s top-flight clubs won’t be able to afford due to their heavily devastated financial conditions.
To exacerbate matters, there are also the Super League sanctions to be considered with the potential ban from the Champions League being a major deterrent jeopardizing Sancho’s hopeful Spanish sojourn.
Manchester United, however, do not have that similar burden to carry and should be in pole position to complete the signing as they sorely missed out last summer falling short of Borussia Dortmund’s asking price and deadline.
Reports from Germany have suggested that Manchester United have opened talks with Dortmund but no official bid has been made.
Meanwhile, reports from Sancho’s camp suggest that the player wants more clarity on his future before the Three Lions’ kick-off at the Euros and there is optimism that a deal can be struck.
Sancho joined Dortmund from United’s local rivals, Manchester City and has scored 50 goals in 137 appearances for them.
