Barcelona’s Sergiño Dest scored his first international goal for USA in Thursday’s friendly 4-1 win over Jamaica.

Barcelona’s Sergiño Dest scored his first international goal with a spectacular 25-yard shot, while Sebastian Lletget contributed with a second-half brace and Brenden Aaronson scoring in the 53rd minute as team USA beat Jamaica 4-1 in a friendly on Thursday night in Austria.

Jamal Lowe snucked in Jamaica’s only goal in the 70th minute on a counterattack, chipping past goalkeeper Zack Steffen on a pass from Andrew Gray.

Dest’s spectacular goal came right after he received a pass just inside the Jamaica half, dribbled past two players and then brilliantly curled the ball past the goalkeeper from 25 yards out.

Dest, 20 years old and making his sixth international appearance, started at-left back despite being mostly a right-back and occasional winger at Barcelona, where he is in his first season and scored his first two goals last weekend at Real Sociedad.

The match also saw Christian Pulisic returning to the US lineup for the first time since October 2019 and playing the first half. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this was just the third match on a Fifa fixture date for the US team since November 2019.

The Americans, already in preparations for a Nations League semi-final against Honduras in June and the start of World Cup qualifying in September, already have seven wins and a draw in their last eight matches – outscoring opponents 23-3 in winning four straight friendlies.
