Having made no secret of his desire to reunite with his former teammate Lionel Messi, Neymar is again reigniting the ire of Barcelona fans after news came out that he has personally called the former to try to convince the Argentine to join him at Paris Saint-Germain.
Since his departure from the Blaugrana for the Parc des Princes in 2017, Neymar’s name has still constantly been linked to his former strike mate and Messi himself had spoken up numerous times about his disappointment on how the club handled the Brazilian’s departure, and had since been lobbying hard to get him back to Camp Nou.
Unfortunately the comeback never came to fruition, and Messi was the one who actually came close to leaving the Camp Nou last summer after growing tensions with the Barcelona club management under since-disgraced president Josep Maria Bartomeu.
The Barca talisman was forced to play out the remaining year of his contract due to a massive 700-million Euros release clause. When news broke on Messi’s vocal desire to leave, Neymar and other PSG teammates have since become openly vocal about wanting Messi to join the Parisieb club.
Marca reports that Neymar made the personal call to tell the Barcelona captain about his Parisien sojourn, and to try to give him an idea on what it’s like to be playing for PSG.
“I’d love to play with Messi again, what I want the most is to enjoy playing with him on the pitch again,” he said, in a previous interview.
It had always been thought that the reunion might happen at Camp Nou, yet now it appears quite likely this might take place in the Parisien capital as Neymar he has been sounding increasingly satisfied with his stay in Paris.
Messi meanwhile appears to have settled back in with Barcelona, but no contract renewal has been agreed, although Joan Laporta’s successful comeback bid as the latest president would have a very telling impact on Messi’s impending future.
