Leicester leapfrogs Manchester United into second place

A resolute Brendan Rodgers side demonstrated their mental resilience to battle from behind and record a key 2-1 win away at Brighton on Saturday which saw them jump ahead of Manchester United into second in the Premier League.

After an hour had lapsed, Brendan Rodgers’ side trailed to a goal from Adam Lallana, but a decisive Kelechi Iheanacho goal levelled the game shortly after. Four minutes from the end, Daniel Amartey headed home a corner to give them the victory.

The Foxes are now entrenched in the top four by seven points with just 10 matches of the campaign remaining. Manchester City remain far out in front – Pep Guardiola’s side lead the way by 12 points with a game in hand – while Manchester United have dropped back to third, two points behind Leicester ahead of the derby on Sunday.

The race for fourth remains a fascinating dogfight between as many as six sides.
