Atletico Madrid consolidated their lead in La Liga with a 2-0 home win over Sevilla at Wanda Metropolitano on Tuesday night.
Angel Correa opened the scoring goal in the 17th minute when he turned and fired a left-foot shot in at the near post past Sevilla keeper Bono.
Saul Niguez doubled Atletico’s lead on 76 minutes with a powerful shot after a low cross from Marcos Llorente after coming into the game as a second-half substitute.
The win sets Atletico four points clear of Real Madrid and seven clear of Barcelona at the top of the table, having played two games fewer than both of their rivals.
Tuesday also saw Granada take a relatively comfortable 2-0 win at home to Osasuna.
After an even first 10 minutes, Luis Suarez put Granada ahead in the 22nd minute after Osasuna failed to deal effectively with a corner.
The second goal came on 46 minutes when Osasuna keeper Sergio Herrera had the misfortune to deflect the ball into his own net after a flick-on by teammate Jonathan Callieri.
Both of Tuesday’s fixtures had been postponed earlier in the season.
