Scotland international Ryan Fraser has put pen to paper on a five-year deal with Newcastle running until the summer of 2025 and is duly reported to have completed his medical on Monday.
Fraser has been a free agent since July after his Bournemouth contract expired and was hoping to secure a free transfer move to a club like Tottenham, but his reputation had suffered a dip significantly over the last 12 months.
Crystal Palace and West Ham were also also reported to have shown interest in signing the 26-year-old, but Newcastle have finally clinched the race after Steve Bruce’s intervention on Friday after the Newcastle head coach had a face-to-face meeting with Fraser at the end of last week to discuss his plans for the upcoming season.
Having also signed Callum Wilson from Bournemouth this week, Bruce is planning to get both players back to their best at St James’ Park.
Wilson and Fraser directly combined for 12 goals during the 2018/29 Premier League campaign, representing the best partnership in the division.
