Lazio qualifies for Champions League after beating Cagliari 2-1 at home in Serie A on Thursday.
It’s a long-awaited moment for Lazio after 13 years without Champions League football.
They have also managed to end the terrible streak, after losing three games in a row, a goalless draw against Udinese and another defeat against Juventus.
It’s all downhill for Lazio after the team trailing against Cagliari, as Giovanni Simeone scored the first goal of the game in 45th minute.
However, they quickly equalized two minutes later through Sergei Milinkovic-Savic.
Ciro Immobile netted the winner in 60th minute, scoring his 31st goal of the season.
Lazio currently with 72 points, only one point behind Inter, two points behind Atalanta and eight points behind Juventus.
With three games left to play, Lazio still have a chance to chase league leaders Juventus, who lost 2-1 at Udinese.
“I’m happy, it’s right to celebrate reaching an important target for us which we achieved three matches in advance,” said Immobile.
“We are proud despite the difficulties we have faced after lockdown. This is something that Lazio haven’t achieved for years.”
