Los Blancos aim to reclaim La Liga top spot after Barcelona’s slip-up

Real Madrid could realistically end the weekend top of La Liga once again if they were to depart San Sebastian with all three points safely tucked away in the bag.

Of course, realistically Real Sociedad are no pushovers as they are still firmly in the race for a fourth place finish with on-loan Los Blancos starlet Martin Odegaard having been in fine form throughout a magnificent season for the Basque side.

Should the outcome favor Zinedine Zidane’s side on Sunday evening, victory will move them level on points with Barcelona, who were held to a goal-less draw by third-placed Sevilla on Friday night.

As far as recent track records go, Real Madrid fought back from a goal behind to seal a 3-1 win in the reverse fixture last November. On the rebound, Real Sociedad won both fixtures last term with a 3-1 win on their own turf following a 2-0 win at the Bernabeu.

The Real Sociedad vs Real Madrid encounter will be held at the Anoeta Stadium on Sunday, June 21, with kick-off scheduled for 9:00pm BST.

Real Madrid have been clinically efficient with six goals in their two games since the restart, with Karim Benzema looking razor sharp in front of goal.

With games due to be shown on TV on Channel 435 on Sky, fans can also live stream the matches online via the Premier Player app. Additionally, La Liga and Premier Sports have confirmed that LaLigaTV have given their approval for Sky customers to watch every Spanish top-flight game for free in June. Pre-match coverage will start at 8:30pm BST.
