Champions League Round of 16 hasn’t even started yet – but Liverpool have already qualified for next year’s edition.
This is due to Chelsea failure to beat Manchester United.
Liverpool is currently 36 points above fifth-placed Tottenham with 12 games remaining.
If Spurs win all of their remaining games and Liverpool lost all the game, Chelsea would only be able to reach 74 points and finish behind Liverpool.
They are the first team in Europe to secure their spot in the elite competition in European football for the 2020-21 season.
Provided that Liverpool win all their remaining matches and Man City as well as Leicester dropping points, they will secure the Premier League title against Bournemouth on 7 March.
They could break Manchester United record for the earliest Premier League title win, as they claimed the trophy in 2000-01 on 14 April 2001.
With Man City fighting for their rights to play Champions League as well as Man United working hard to qualify for the competition, Liverpool are miles ahead of everyone else.
