In the last few hours, reports on the arrival of former Valencia manager Marcelino in London has been rife in social media channels, suggesting he is moving to a new club.
At the moment, Arsenal and Everton managerial position is vacant following the sacking of Unai Emery and Marco Silva.
It has been reported that Arsenal is in contact with Marcelino last season and he recently declined an offer from Everton.
So, there is only one club he could go and that is Arsenal which might not be a good news for the Gunners fans all over the world.
Marcelino was sacked in September after managing Valencia for two years, despite winning Copa Del Ray, beating the mighty Barcelona in 2-1 victory at the end of last season.
He blamed the club board, who wanted him to pursue for the Champions League qualification and not Copa Del Ray, basically saying he is fallen out of favour.
But does Arsenal truly need Marcelino?
The 54-year-old had actually did well with Valencia, as he steered the club to two consecutive Champions League qualification in a row, something that previous Valencia managers failed to do so.
However, in terms of his success, it is comparatively smaller than Unai Emery’s.
If Emery failed to succeed in Arsenal, the same thing might happen again with Marcelino. They need a manager with a clear philosophy and transfer policy, aside from a quality man management.
There are simply better candidates than Marcelino, they need a manager who is visionary, someone who is able to help Arsenal to qualify for Champions League once again, and above all, creating a title-winning side.
If not, Arsenal fans will continue to suffer for years to come.
