Yokohama FC U-21 team head coach Tomonobu Hayakawa could not hold his praises to Vietnam U-23 top scorer Nguyen Cong Phuong.
Hayakawa and his side in Vietnam to participate at the International U-21 Football Tournament, which will take place in Can Tho, Vietnam from December 12-22.
In an exclusive interview with Vietnamese news outlet Zing.vn, Hayakawa said he believed that Cong Phuong could succeed if he returned to play in Japan.
“Cong Phuong is good enough to play for Mito HollyHock. But if he returns to the club, he has to depend on the current coach. What does the coach want from him, did the coach build a squad that suits him?” Yokohama U-21 coach said.
Cong Phuong had joined J2-League’s side Mito Hollyhock on a one-year loan contract in 2015.
However, the “Vietnamese Messi” was only given a few chances to play in the starting XI, so HAGL decided to call him back from the Japanese club.
