Vietnam U-23 top scorer Nguyen Cong Phuong has expected to meet arch-rivals Thailand in the next rounds of M-150 Championship.
Speaking to Vietnam media outlets, Cong Phuong stated that his side did not target the tournament’s title, but he was keen on meeting strong opponents like Thailand in order to prepare for the AFC U-23 Championship next month.
With his impressive performance in the opening match between Vietnam and Myanmar yesterday, in which his side earned a big 4-0 win, the Hoang Anh Gia Lai forward has been awarded The Player of the Match by the M-150 Cup organizers.
“Vietnam U-23 have been in the progress of preparing for the 2018 Asian U-23 Championship. We do not target the title in M-150 Cup, but we look forward to meeting strong opponents like Thailand U-23. We will make greatest efforts in the next match against Uzbekistan U-23,” said Cong Phuong, as quoted by Dan Tri.
