FAM president: Tan Cheng Hoe will be given space and freedom to do his work

Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim (TMJ) confirmed that newly-appointed national head coach Tan Cheng Hoe would be given “space and freedom” to do his work.

“There is nothing else that’s new and he will remain on his existing two year contract. We will give him the space and freedom to do whatever he thinks is best for the national team,” TMJ said in a meeting on Saturday, as quoted by the New Straits Times.

“There are no high targets and the first thing he has to do is to change the players mentality to that of a winning one.

“Now we need to win matches, change the players mentality and work in addressing weaknesses.”

On Thursday, Cheng Hoe was taking the national team coaching position after Portuguese Nelo Vingada stepped down on the previous day following a string of poor result.
