Al Jazira beat Urawa Reds Diamonds to face Real Madrid in Club World Cup semi

UAE’s Al Jazira beat Japan’s Urawa Reds Diamonds 1-0 on Saturday to earn a historical meeting with Real Madrid in the semi-final of the FIFA Club World Cup.

Ali Mabkhout scored the only goal of the game in the 52nd minute from a pass by Romarinho.

Jazira thus became the first UAE team to make it to the semi-finals of the Club World Cup. Henk ten Cate and his side will set up the showdown with Zinedine Zidane’s side at Zayed Sports City Stadium on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Copa Libertadores champions Gremio will play CONCACAF Champions League winners Pachuca, who reached top four after edging Wydad Casablanca of Morocco 1-0, on Tuesday in Al Ain.

The Club World Cup final will be contested on 16 December in Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
