Ex-Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra joins Al Jazira

Former Real Madrid and Chelsea midfielder Lassana Diarra has signed with United Arab Emirates champions Al Jazira.

The 32-year-old joined the Arabian Gulf League outfit after leaving from French Ligue 1 giants Olympique Marseille in February.

“I’m joining Al Jazira, champions of the UAE,” Diarra told the Journal du Dimanche newspaper.

“I’ll prepare in the United States before doing a pre-season with the squad from June.”

The French international midfielder was release by Marseille after he had his commitment questioned by coach Rudi Garcia and the captaincy stripped from him.

Diarra previously has also played for Arsenal and Portsmouth, as well as Anzhi Makhachkala and Lokomotiv Moscow in the Russian league.
