Manchester United’s Moroccan star Noussair Mazraoui was given high praise from his new manager labeled “the future” of the squad, after the Moroccan featured prominently in the new manager’s first win in the dugout.
United secured a 3-2 win over Norwegian selection Bodo/Glimt on Thursday night to earn Amorim his first victory as the new head coach, in his first match at Old Trafford.
Mazraoui registered an assist on the night, as well as completing 95 per cent of his passes as he impressed at right wing-back. The 27-year-old has played at left-back, right-back, in midfield and now right centre-back for United since joining from Bayern Munich on a four-year deal in August.
Speaking after the win over Bodo/Glimt, Amorim said of Mazraoui: “He’s an incredible player, he’s our future.
“He played in different positions, he looks always fresh but we have to be careful. There’s a lot of games but he’s here to stay. This kind of player is what we need.”
Alejandro Garnacho put United 1-0 up in the first minute at Old Trafford, but Bodo/Glimt turned the match on its head and led 2-1 at the break.
Yet a second-half brace by Rasmus Hojlund earned the Red Devils their first victory under Amorim, with Mazraoui playing a key role.
